Henry Ford,shown here at the age of two a half grew up as the oldest child in a family of six children. As a boy, Henry displayed a curioslty and aptitude for mechanical things and openly disliked the drudgery of farm chores. None of his two younger sisters and three brothers achieved the prominence that Henry ultimately did. The birthplace of Henry Ford,Shownhereinthe1890s,WaSa modest midwesternfarmhouse built by William Ford in 1861,Shortly be-fore his marriage to Mary Litogot・Upon Henry's birth on July 30,1863,the home became shared liv-ing quarters for three generations,for Mary's foster-Parents,the O'Herns,lived there also.Origi-nally a seven-room struCture,four additional rooms were later added.
